The Riverside Inn

There seems to be a theme with these reviews, we have been here a few times and every time before this last visit the experience was great, this time however the service was lacking and that’s being kind. The food was great but the service needed to be worked on. I’m actually having a problem with writing this review because I really don’t enjoy giving bad reviews based on service. We were seated and the waitress asked if she could get us some drinks, we were in the north room in the front corner, as we were having our drinks 4 more people were seated beside us and then eventually 2 other were seated beside them. We ordered our appetizers and she said she’s will be back to take our order. I thought that meant in 5 minutes or so, in the meantime the table beside us and the table beside them ordered their drinks. About 10 minutes after that the waitress went to the 3rd table that was seated and took their order and then came back 5 minutes after that and took the 2nd table that was seated and took their order, then 10 minutes after that took our order, dinner came to us about 40 minutes after ordering, the 2 other tables were finished and settling up their bill and were now eating. I mentioned to my wife that this waitress made a terrible mistake and went out of order of people that were seated. I gave a 3 star review only because of the food,it would have been 5 if the service was good. Hope the owner reads this and strongly suggests to their servers to make sure they go in order as if they don’t it can ruin an evening. All other times have been great at this establishment so I’m hoping this was a one off. BTW this the first time in google I’ve ever given a review less than 5 stars and I feel terrible about it. I will say they were busy but the order of being seated matters and it’s the servers responsibility to know the order. What should have been a 1 hour dinner turned into a 2 hour dinner.

Food here feels homemade and freshly made Pork schnitzel 4.5/5 - "humongous" portions, as described - very delicious, the breading they use is unique and very flavourful - Definitely would recommend - mushroom gravy is good, not too liquidity Chicken & waffles 4/5 - came out as nuggets but the flavour did not disappoint - again, breading was unique and tasty - spicy mayo that it comes with has a good kick - Waffle is just like your regular Belgian waffle but smaller portioned Banana bread French toast 3.5/5 - unique and has a good amount of banana bread flavour - texture was a little too spongy for me, I'd rather have it more cakey

Well, the food, burger and the schnitzel were good. The gravy that comes with the schnitzel was overwhelming, I wouldn't order it again. The part that I didn't like is that beer is $10 and the cake even more. I think that's too much. So you can have a burger and fries for $15, and cake is almost $12. Doesn't make sense. And the cake it's nothing special, most likely from some store, paid 25-30 bucks. I think they rip you off with cake as you never ask for the dezert menu to check the prices, after you eat the meal. The smiley young lady was very friendly, prompt and fast, so no complaints about the service.

Sadly we called made reservation were we told on the phone we only had 1.5hours to eat, which we thought was odd but plenty of time. We arrived and were seated. We waited 20 min no one came over. 2 separate waitresses walked right by us. When I asked they said they changed room assignments and they would ask. Waited another 8 min and decided to leave. It was horrible service.
